Couple of weeks ago I had a pleasure to test Oculus. It is a very future-oriented device. It can change many aspects of our lives. Is it going to be positive or negative? What exactly can it change? Below there are some of the most important aspects:

  1. Gaming. There are already some video games in which you can move around entire towns and interact with many objects. It’s easy to move to virtual reality but is it still easy to come back to reality?
  2. Commerce. There’s already an Oculus program in which you can see your flat that you are about to buy. You can also see the whole building and the neighborhood. It’s a future for real estate agents.
  3. Education. It’s possible to take classes online. What if you could sit at a virtual desk instead of watching a video? Imagine biology classes if you could travel inside human body, brain!
  4. Sex. Impressions will be stronger than when viewing photos or videos. Oculus porn is going to be immersive and engaging. You can easily become addicted to this kind of entertainment.

Oh ya! I’ve tried this one too. It feels very very real. I think after 3D, this is the next technology in virtual interaction. It is indeed very promising.

I also had the opportunity to test it and I found it pretty cool. There is this big hype on these glasses in the Polish Youtuber community https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGtdc-FZxM4 people really seem to love it. However I wonder what impact it has on our vision? I remeber my thother telling me to step away further from the tv and now here getting almost as close as it gets to it.

Maybe I’m too much sceptical for this thing, but I experienced Oculus several times. Few time it was presented as game, few times for some other trendy things like yoga. Personally, I don’t understand those people who start screaming in the middle of the video or trying to avoid some sort of barriers. People looks like they never went to the cinema.

Now, only for one purpose you actually can use Oculus – military.

In my opinion, vr headsets may have a significant impact on the broadly defined lifestyle. However, what is necessary to stress is the fact that in order to reach a wider audience in the future, it is crucial to develop more specific, accurate applications. In my opinion, these devices could have a great application within the educational sphere. (presenting all the mechanisms – biology, chemistry, physics, technical analysis)
