The nespresso of wine

Reading Time: 2 minutes

After winning the price of “Best Start up” CES 2016, the French 10-vins company has again surprised this year with its new model of D-vine called “Connect”.

This company based in Nantes (West of France), was created in 2012 by three graduated engineers passionnated by wine.

Initially, the company selling bottles of wine of 10cl, equivalent to a glass of wine. In 2014, the 10-vins team launched its machine called D-VINE. They presented their invention in the 2016 CES : a machine able to reproduce the effects of a carafe and the gestures of the sommelier to obtain the same effects at home and instantly without having to wait several hours that the wine is at good temperature and properly oxygenated.

Résultat de recherche d'images pour "10 vins"

And they made it even better in this new 2017 edition of CES : they presented the “Connect” the  sister of D-vine. This time, the machine is more interactive and give advice to its users about the wine they should consume with the meal they are eating. With Connect, the company wants to “(…) bring a complete wine experience and make users’ lives easier with a personal wine assistant.”

The price of this machine will surely frustrate more than one as it is sold at the price of 800 euros. However as the founders of the company explains, their main customers will be the hotels.

End of 2017 10-wines aims to open a complete cocktail bar in California. Subsequently, it hopes to make available its D-Vine Connect for households in 2018.

Industry 4.0 – Adidas joins in

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Rumours have it that Adidas committed to move some production back to Germany as a by-product of the negotiations with DFB (German football association) sponsoring. Particularly the jersey of the national team was said to be produced in Germany again, 20 years after outsourcing that whole part of the value chain to Asia. That was about half a year ago, and ignorami like me seriously wondered how that would be possible. Well, like this:

If everything goes according to plan, Adidas can start the series production next year. A second factory is then built in America, the company management announces. Both sites together would produce one million pairs of shoes annually. A small amount – measured by the total volume of around 300 million pairs a year. But it should be the beginning. “In the medium term, we will find such factories in all major sales markets,” announced CEO Herbert Hainer. And he doesn’t conceal the motivation – it’s the logo ‘made in Germany/USA/Australia’ etc. that still signals quality apparently.

Shoes in the robot factory can be manufactured even more cost-effectively than man-made running shoes. Only the staff will differ: While traditionally sewed and patterned shoes in Asian factories require human intervention, the pilot factories in Ansbach and America each require not more than 160 production and maintenance specialists for the robots.

Adidas’ foray fits neatly in the returning trend towards automation. Industry 4.0 penetrates all sectors, also other industries profit. At the Audi factory in Ingolstadt, for example, people and robots are already working side-by-side: in final assembly, a robot gets the necessary components and passes them to the employee.

Then again, we’ve been there before. And actual research shows the limits of automation. Not necessarily in terms of feasibility but efficiency. If we think about the hundreds of millions Google, Tesla, BMW etc. have invested in autonomous driving (which essentially is robotics and still doesn’t work perfectly) and that Adidas in this example even received funding from the German government for its robot factory, the question pops up how long it will take until someone will invest that kind of money for a robot to cut meat (which from an engineering point of view is everything but simple) or to do housework.

What makes Amazon greatest IT-company in the world? A guide to the company of the future

Reading Time: 2 minutes

What makes Amazon great?  Why and how the company has become so big?
– Inspirational management? Well-knit team? Company culture? Or innovativeness? Or probably all together?

All those components have led to a unique synergy that drives the company ahead, and innovativeness is probably the main part of the progress.

Being proactive is ain’t easy. Thinking out of the box is a huge skill developed with years, and trained by the experiences. Managing the technology and the change in a fast-developing world is an art. Jeff Besos is an artist who  has implemented numerous successful innovations in the company. Here are the best of them, those who made Amazon one of the leading IT-companies in the world.

Amazon Go

In 2016 Amazon introduced the most advanced shop in the world. Smart shopping is real – no lines, no cash desks. The shop is supported by the application Amazon Go, which allows to do any transaction with the help of the smartphone, just scan the item and put it in the basket. Special technology, called Just Walk Out, automatically detects when the products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart.
Currently it is often only for Amazon employees in a Beta program, yet in 2017 it will open to the public.

Prime Air
First Customer delivery

Amazon is not the first company to use drones as a delivery vehicle, but Amazon is the first to put it into their business strategy, not only  use it as a promotional tool. The very first parcel was delivered in December, 2016. Amazon will continue using drones in the area of Cambridge.

Airship warehouses

In 2014 Amazon has filed a patent for using airship warehouses that would work in tandem with drones to make a delivery. Amazon calls those air stations “Airborne fulfilment centres”(AFc), which are aimed to be used in the times of a high demand (e.g. Christmas holidays) to deliver goods to metropolitan areas using drones. They will be dispatched directly from the AFc, which will make the delivery faster than ever.

What else has Amazon planned for us in 2017? We’ll see. But we can be sure – it’s going to be astonishing.

Remi a smart alarm clock to sleep like a baby

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Remi is a smart alarm clock presented by the start-up Urban Hello supposed to teach sleeping well to babies and children under 10 years. This awakening also serves as a babyphone and pregnant but it helps parents especially to follow and improve, over time, the sleep of their children.
Every morning, on waking, the device calculates a sleep score, allowing the parents to follow its evolution according to several criteria (noise, temperature of the room, etc.). In this way, they can identify the conditions that favor a happy sleep and, on the contrary, those who participate in an insomnia.

Thanks to Remi you can :

  • Create sleeping and siesting habits that are perfect for your baby, with flexible alerts, adjustable nightlight, music, and more.
  • Personalize your REMI, and let your child use the REMI app to learn how to manage his bedtime and lifting habits.
  • Put your baby in the best conditions for a good night’s sleep, thanks to the adjustable night light and lullabies of your choice
  • Record the sound profile of your child’s nights and keep a follow-up log to help you identify the most favorable conditions for your child’s sleep.
  • Connect to REMI to listen to your baby or talk to your child, remind him to turn off the light at night or it’s time to get up.

Do we buy the brand or the product (Nvidia Quadro)

Reading Time: 3 minutes

nvidia-computing-workstation-logoLet’s be honest, why you should pay over 3000$ for graphic card that is almost identical with the one that cost 1000$ or even 600$.

Nvidia’s brand for graphics cards intended to use for many different solutions such as GeForce for games and Quadro for workstations which is being used by professionals. Quadro is mainly used for design, graphics, digital content creation and coding. Thanks to its chipsets which is the best chipsets that you can get from the silicon. But as I said in the beginning, Quadro and GeForce chipsets are from the same family. It is production stages are totally the same. The GPU chips on Quadro graphics cards are totally identical to the ones that are being used for GeForce graphic cards. Of course the end products are differentiated from substantially by the drivers and the professional support for the software itself.

indirBut don’t you dare to confuse yourself. Hold on a second and try to think about a video game developer company which renders millions of codes and graphics in a day. Can’t you find the answer still? Professional companies just pay 3000$ because of its support availability itself to get aid in crisis from Nvidia.

The chips that are used in Quadro are the best ones for that family generation. It is stability and adding small differences such as calculating massive things such as coding and pixels are creating the differences between Quadro and Geforce. Most of the professional companies are choosing to buy Quadro just because it is the best graphic card for the development stage.

indir-1Hold on a second, you think I am telling you cannot do the same things in Geforce graphic cards. Because I just told you it is totally identical and coming from the same production stages? Yes, you are right, you can do the same things in Geforce but you can never trust the results. In the rendering or calculation stage, Quadro graphic cards are the best ones compared to GeForce. In GeForce graphic cards, you can never be sure that rendering stage did not create any bug that can accrue later on.

Since the fireware and drivers are the most important difference between Quadro and Geforce, we can totally assume that the professional companies are only paying the support and the software. I should also mention the CUDA cores. Just because of it is the best ships that are used for Quadro, Nvidia is able to offer more CUDA cores which allows to render and calculate things faster and stable. Let’s not be dare to buy Quadro graphic cards for playing games because it is just throwing your money away.

New App to Rent Rooms By the Minute

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Today I’d like to talk to you about a new company that was born last year.

When you book a hotel room, you only have one choice: reserve the room for entire days at a time.

But the consumer may also be looking for getting privacy in the city to nap or shower or prepare for something, or just want to change a diaper or nurse their baby.

For the people concerned in all such situations there is Recharge.

Recharge is a new startup that’s trying to change all of that, in fact this app allows anyone near a partnering hotel to get some privacy for extremely short hotel stays.

Users can book a stay in hotel for just for 67 cents a minute, or $40 an hour.

How Recharge works

To book a room, you have to open Recharge and you can find a map view where you can see which partnering hotels are near your current location.

Once you click “Book Now,” you’re given 15 minutes to arrive at the hotel Recharge has matched you with and check in. You don’t have to indicate how long you plan to stay. After 15 minutes, your booking time begins, and you’re charged $0.66 for every minute you remain at the hotel. When you’re ready to leave, just press the “Check Out” button on Recharge’s app, and your payment will stop.

“People most commonly use Recharge as they use Starbucks,” co-founder Emmanuel Bamfo told Fortune, referring to people’s use of coffee shops as place to sit down, catch up on some work and use Wi-Fi when available. The idea is similar to short-term office rental services like Breather, which lets customers rent out private space, mostly in offices, for anywhere between 30 minutes to a full day to rest up or do some work. The difference is that here you have an hotel room, available 24 H.

In my opinion this is really useful idea, and the success of the company is confirmed by Michael Baier, General Manager. As is reported in the offcial site of the company he said: “That demand took us by surprise. I wasn’t expecting the results to be frankly as good as they have been. There’s a significant part of the day where the rooms are empty. Most business travelers leave early in the morning, and a lot of them don’t come until late at night, so that time in between is really where Recharge became an interesting thing to consider.”

Is it worth to smash everything, take the laptop, buy a one-way ticket to a place far away and start another life? The whole truth about digital nomads.

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Digital nomad – a person who left everything behind except of its work, takes its laptop and travels through the world. The number of that type of people is still increasing. They are known for posting pictures on Facebook, showing how they work at a beautiful beach between the palms. In the back we can see some necessary accessories as the surfboard, scuba diving equipment, kites, just depending on the preferences and the place. That kind of lifestyle may on the first look like a madness, but it isn’t!

What means digital nomadism?

Digital nomads are people who take advantage of the internet and mobile devices to work remotely. They do various professions, which do not require staying in one place, but it is necessary to have a stable connection with the internet.

These are programmers, copywriters, marketing specialists, designers, SEO consultants, language teachers, translators, lawyers, owners of e-companies, bloggers, virtual assistants, online psychologists and far more….

The core point is that potentially all services can be transmitted to the internet and these create all the digital nomad workplaces. Instead of sitting in the stationary office they do their job in co-working places, rented apartments, cafeterias or even, adapted home-office vans.

The most of them use this possibility to go abroad and life on the Canary Islands, south Spain, south-east Asia, South Africa, Mexico and even Australia. Before choosing the place its worth to check the nomad list with the calculations of life costs and features of particular places. You can check them out right here: https://nomadlist.com/

Few just move for few months; the others decide for having a mobile life and are the most time somewhere abroad.

What type of people choses that lifestyle

Digital nomads are not hippies selling self-made bracelets on the streets of touristic cities, these aren’t also travelers who work for getting food e.g.. On farms (Workaway model), these aren’t also people who work usually in offices and have one or two days home office.

The most digital nomads are people who decided to take their work to exotic, tropical countries.

The main part of them is educated, talented and creative, who care as well about their career and self-development as exploring new places and taking advantage of the attractions in their free time these places give.

They are developing steadily, know few languages on an professional basis, possess an excellent time-management skill, have experience, and in combination of all these features they can do what they are doing.

Nomads are usually specialist in new technology, internet and everything connected with the virtual world. Many people write blogs, teach how to promote them, record vlogs and publishes them. That kind of lifestyle gives the possibility to improve the languages skills and also learn new languages and cultures. It also teaches to catch a healthy distance to reality.

A great example for successfull digital nomads is the founder of the “Travel like a boss podcast”, who shows how digital nomads live and what to do, to have a life like that!

The online working issue and the desire to explore the world are not the only factors

The day a person decides to put the most important things in the backpack, the laptop, the one-way ticket and the trip to the airport, the so called breakthrough day is usually preceded with few weeks, even months of preparation. Often people even have to change a lot of habits to get a new point of view and to prepare to live in a new, totally different culture.

We are surrounded every day with people taking part in a rat race, rushing for money and a better position. Nomads chose a life, an adventure, coworking, exploring the world, independency, nonconformity…

They can easily adapt to the reality and take advantage of everything the new place has to offer them. No matter if they are working 8h per day, longer or shorter, they are just happy of having the possibility in another place they once used to be forced to be.

1 billion digital nomads by 2035

More and more people all across the world start working remotely. Specialists suggest that by 2035, 50% of US citizens are going to be freelancers and 1/3 of them will chose the nomad lifestyle.

Also in Poland, nowadays there are just few of them but this trend is increasing and therefore also the number of people who decide to life and work in this particular way.

How about you? Could you imagine buying a one-way ticket, change the office desk, for a hammock on the beach, the coffee for a drink and work listening to the waves and watching surfers?!
