The New MacBook Air on M2 has arrived

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The new MacBook Air M2 (2022) looks so good that you’re going to wonder if you should pay for a MacBook Pro. Compared to the previous MacBook Air M1, you get a more powerful M2 chip, bigger and brighter 13.6-inch display and improved 1080p webcam in an extremely portable design that’s 20% smaller than the previous model.

The first thing I noticed about the new MacBook Air 2022 is how small and light it feels. The weight has only shrunk slightly (2.7 pounds from 2.8 pounds), but the overall design is 20% smaller in volume vs the MacBook Air M1. And it’s thinner, too, at 0.4 inches vs 0.6 inches for the older model.

At the same time, the MacBook Air M2 doesn’t feel too light, as some systems can that are made with magnesium. This is still a very solid unibody aluminum design.

Apple gives you four color options with the MacBook Air 2022, including Midnight (blue), Starlight (pale gold), Space Gray and Silver. I’m a big fan of the Midnight option, as it shifts from dark blue to a brighter blue depending on how the light hits it. The Midnight MacBook Air has personality without being too loud.

The new MacBook Air has the most Pro-level display yet, and that’s thanks to an increased brightness of 500 nits. This is one bright and colorful panel, and it’s now a bit bigger at 13.6 inches (up from 13.3 inches), thanks to Apple shrinking the borders.

The 2560 x 1664-pixel display looked vivid when I watched some footage from Apple TV Plus’ Prehistoric Planet. And I could make out fine details on the snout of one particularly menacing looking dinos.

With support for 1 billion colors, wide color support (P3) and True Tone built in, this is one of the best displays for the money this side of an OLED panel. And while I could do without the notch up top, it’s not too distracting.

When it comes to audio, the new Air is the best sounding laptop in the line yet, thanks to a four-speaker sound system that’s located between the display and keyboard. During a demo I was very impressed with the volume and clarity. But the bass is definitely lacking versus the Pro.

Even with the reduction in size, the MacBook Air promises epic endurance. Apple rates the new MacBook Air 2022 for 18 hours of video playback and 15 hours of wireless web surfing. Neither of those numbers vary from what Apple promises with the M1 MacBook Air, though. We’ll be putting the new Air through our battery test to evaluate these claims.

Based on our initial impressions, the new MacBook Air 2022 could be one of the best laptops of the year. The design is delightfully portable, and the display is simply awesome in person. I also like the powerful sound system and the potential of the mighty M2 chip.

So who would get the $1,299 / AU$1,999 13-inch MacBook Pro? Anyone who wants even more power (thanks to its active cooling system) and 10-core GPU standard. Plus, the Pro offers even longer battery life of up to 20 hours of video playback.

Here is the one of the greatest advertisements of all time:

Canada to ban China’s Huawei and ZTE from its 5G networks

Reading Time: 3 minutes
The Huawei logo at a trade show.

Canada says it will ban two of China’s biggest telecoms equipment makers from working on its 5G phone networks.

The restrictions against Huawei and ZTE were announced by the country’s industry minister on Thursday. Francois-Philippe Champagne says the move will improve Canada’s mobile internet services and “protect the safety and security of Canadians”. But Huawei Canada said it was “disappointed” by the decision, which it said was “political”.

“This is an unfortunate political decision that has nothing to do with cyber security or any of the technologies in question,” a statement said.

Several nations – including the UK, US, Australia and New Zealand – have already put restrictions on the firms.

The four countries, along with Canada, make up an intelligence-sharing arrangement named “Five Eyes”. It evolved during the Cold War as a mechanism for monitoring the Soviet Union and sharing classified information.

Canada’s announcement was widely expected, as its allies had already barred Huawei and ZTE from their own high-speed networks.

Speaking to reporters in the Canadian capital of Ottawa, Mr Champagne said the decision came after “a full review by our security agencies and consultation with our closest allies”.

“Let me be very clear: We will always protect the safety and security of Canadians and will take any actions necessary to safeguard our telecommunication infrastructure,” he added.

“In a 5G world, at a time where we rely more and more in our daily lives [on] our network, this is the right decision.”

A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Ottawa told the Reuters news agency that Beijing sees the security concerns raised by Canada as a “pretext for political manipulation”.

The spokesperson for China also accused Canada of working with the US to suppress Chinese companies.

The Chinese embassy in Ottawa did not immediately respond to BBC requests for comment.

Huawei Canada said its equipment had been “closely scrutinised” by the government and security agencies, and added there had been “zero security incidents caused by Huawei equipment”.

“Banning Huawei’s equipment and services will lead to significant economic loss in Canada and drive up the cost of communications for Canadian consumers,” a statement said.

“Unfortunately, this decision is beyond our control as a business. However, we will do everything in our capacity to protect the legitimate rights and interests of our customers, partners, and ourselves.”

Meanwhile, ZTE said it rejected the “premise” of the Canadian government’s announcement, saying it was “highly speculative”.

“We have always abided by international standards and best practices, opening up our cyber security labs to enable regulators and stakeholders to verify the security of ZTE products,” the firm said.

The Canadian government’s decision means that telecoms firms in country will no longer be allowed to use equipment made by Huawei and ZTE.

Companies that have already installed the equipment made by the Chinese manufacturers must now remove it, Mr Champagne said.

Canada first announced a review of Huawei equipment in September 2018.

Some of China’s biggest technology and telecoms firms have been targeted in recent years by governments in the US and other Western nations over national security concerns.

In November, US President Joe Biden signed legislation that stops companies judged to be security threats from receiving new telecoms equipment licences in the country.

It means equipment from Huawei, ZTE and three other Chinese companies are banned for use in US telecoms networks.

Gucci stores to accept cryptocurrencies in US

Reading Time: < 1 minute
A woman walks in front of the Gucci store on Fifth Avenue in Trump Tower.

Italian luxury brand Gucci will start accepting payments in cryptocurrencies in some of its stores in America.

Customers will be able to pay using a number of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin. The service will be rolled out later this month at some of its flagship outlets, including Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles and New York’s Wooster Street.

Gucci, owned by France’s Kering, joins a growing number of companies that have started to accept virtual currencies. The firm said it will also take payments in Shiba Inu and Dogecoin – a so-called “meme” cryptocurrency that was originally created as a joke.

The brand said it plans to introduce the policy to all the North American stores it operates directly in the near future. Some of the world’s biggest brands now accept digital currencies, including technology giant Microsoft, US telecoms firm AT&T and coffee chain Starbucks.

From my point of view, it is a new step to the future and no-cash payments. All the companies should start to accept crypto.

Elon Musk Will Not Join Twitter’s Board

Reading Time: 2 minutes
Jeff Bezos responds to Elon Musk's poll asking if Twitter HQ should be converted into homeless shelter | Fox Business

Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest man and the biggest shareholder of Twitter, will no longer join the social media service’s board of directors, the company said late Sunday. On Tuesday, Twitter announced that the billionaire would be appointed to its 11-person board for a term that expires in 2024. The invitation to join the board followed Mr. Musk’s accumulating a 9.2 percent stake in the company, making him its largest shareholder.

However, Parag Agrawal, Twitter’s chief executive, tweeted late Sunday that the situation had changed. On Saturday morning, Mr. Musk — who is a heavy Twitter user with more than 81 million followers — told the company he would no longer become a board member, Mr. Agrawal said.

By not joining Twitter’s board, Mr. Musk will also no longer be bound by a previous agreement he had signed with the company. Under a “standstill” agreement last week, he had pledged not to purchase more than 14.9 percent of Twitter’s stock and not to take over the company. That suggests Mr. Musk could now keep adding to his stake in the company.

When Twitter revealed in an S.E.C. filing on Monday that Mr. Musk had bought the stake in the company, the news was greeted with fanfare. As a prolific Twitter user, Mr. Musk’s investment appeared to be a vote of confidence in the company, sending its stock soaring that day by more than 25 percent.

Mr. Musk’s purchases of Twitter stock also came at a delicate time for the company. Twitter has been going through a transition since Jack Dorsey, a company founder, stepped down as chief executive last year. Mr. Agrawal, the chief technology officer, was appointed in his place.

Elon Musk’s Starlink arrives in Ukraine but what next?

Reading Time: < 1 minute
Starlink – Pierwsze opinie o satelitarnym internecie Elona Muska | VideoTesty.pl

Ukraine’s deputy prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov confirmed that the lorry with the Starling dishes has arrived in Ukraine to help the country to fight with Russian aggression.

Stepan Veselovskyi, chief executive of Lviv IT Cluster says that currently internet services in most Ukrainian cities are working well but it will be important for businesses to have a contingency plan if networks fail.

Alp Toker of NetBlocks cautioned against seeing Starlink as a substitute for phone networks and broadband: “Starlink can provide connectivity by creating a personal hotspot for people who are in the vicinity of the device. So this is very useful for journalists, for resistance groups or the elected government.”

From my point of view, Starlink is a future for Ukraine and Ukrainians. People could experience something new and it will help a lot in stopping the aggression from the Russian side. Thank you, Elon Musk!

INNOVATive CITY FROm Toyota

Reading Time: < 1 minute

One of the most ambitious projects of the exhibition is the city of the future Woven City from Toyota. The municipality will be one large laboratory where scientists can test new technologies.

The company plans to build a city at the foot of Mount Fuji, 90 km from Tokyo. All vehicles in it will be unmanned and will be able to drive exclusively on hydrogen fuel cells – in the same way, according to Toyota’s plans, houses will be heated.

The area of Woven City will be 70.8 hectares, all the houses in it will be built of wood, and solar panels will be installed on their roofs. The main idea of the engineers is to create a city that will not be built around transport, but primarily for pedestrians. The streets of Woven City will be clearly divided into pedestrian and transport zones, and in addition to scientists and engineers, ordinary people will be able to live in it.

From my personal point of view, I think that this technology will change the world and contribute to human history. Also, all other companies should follow Toyota’s example to make our world become the future. If you have some words to say, please do not hesitate to leave comments below

Amazon GO: just grab and go

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Admit, many of you dreamed of going to the store, taking the right products – and quietly leaving. No need to queue where the cashier makes each purchase in front of a barcode scanner. Shop without queues. Shop without cash registers and cashiers. Just goods. You can jump in for a minute, take what you need – and leave.

Amazon GO – shopping without shop workers.

How it works?

Shopping in the store is organized exactly as it should be in perfect self-service. You go around the store, choose the right products, put them in a bag, in a backpack or just put them in your pockets. Then exit the store through special turnstiles – and the purchase amount is automatically debited from your Amazon account.

The magic begins to work at the entrance to the store, where the buyer must immediately log in. Authorization is carried out through a QR code in the Amazon mobile application on a smartphone. At the entrance to the store, you should show the scanner the code on the screen. At the moment, turnstiles are by default open for passage. People just show the barcode and go in. There are no barriers blocking the entrance for unauthorized visitors.
The mobile application on the smartphone runs in the background and tracks the list of purchases that you put in your basket (or in your pockets). The exact tracking mechanism has not been disclosed, but Amazon is known to use RFID tags and camcorders. Apparently, the surveillance system tracks the location of each customer in the store, and the RFID tag scanners on the shelf determine when the goods were taken from the shelf. The system combines information from two channels – and concludes that a certain buyer took a specific product.

There are only 4 cities with Amazon GO shops: New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Seattle. But the company says that in the future their shops will be situated across the whole world.

I personally think that it is a great idea to provide costumers with a convenient way of shopping. And what do you think about this fantastic idea from Amazon? Would you like to buy products there? Leave your comments below!

Why people like iPhone?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The first iPhone appeared in 2007, called iPhone 2G, it was revolution in mobile phone industry. People got crazy from it. They are looking forward to buy new one each year. And today I want to talk about why is this happening and why iPhone is so successful.

Firstly, from the beginning in 2007, iPhone 2G had the biggest screen and the most powerful operating system (IOS) on the world market. Apple supplies new technologies with new features. For example iPhone 4S got voice assistant called Siri, iPhone 5S got Touch ID, iPhone X got Face ID. All this new features help Apple to become famous and productable company. It is very important to know that iPhone has the most powerful processor, this year new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 pro got A13 bionic chip, which in 2 times faster than Snapdragon 855. So, iPhone has the strongest system which has constantly updated  and forceful bionic chip.

Secondly, iPhone has got, on my opinion, the best camera. New iPhones have 12 MP on both front and back modules, but focusing and details make photos and videos fantastic. Also, you can record videos in 4k quality with 60 frames per second (fps). In 2016 Apple released iPhone 7+ with portrait mode, which can make photo with background erosion with perfect focusing and detailed face. I can talk about the camera for a long time but let’s move to the next point.

Znalezione obrazy dla zapytania: iphone 11 pro photos from presentation"

Finally, I want to say about iPhone’s magnificent design. Apple make iPhone bright, colorful and enjoyable. Each model has amazing design with beautiful camera module and smooth corners and surface. Do you want even to hold it in your hands? Definitely yes, I am sure. Also, IOS is very nice and easy system, you can configure it as you like.

In conclusion I would say that iPhone has plenty of benefits, why people get in love with this gadget. I personally have iPhone and I really like it, there are still hundreds of features that I did not mention, but you can leave your comments and say  what is your favourite iPhone and features you like more

ECO GARDEN: THE SMARTEST INTERACTIVE ECO SYSTEM

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The EcoGarden is a combination of a smart miniature greenhouse and a self-cleaning aquarium. This system helps you to grow up herbs or vegetables. What is the most exciting is that you can monitor and control your ecosystem remotely from your phone and it also gives you whole information about condition of your garden. Also, you can feed your fish or check temperature in aquarium.

So, how it works?

‘Aquaponics’ – growing technique which uses the fish waste as the nutrient source for the plants, while the plants naturally filters the water which is recirculated back to the fish. A natural and effective way of cleaning your aquarium, creating the ultimate self-sustaining and resource efficient ecosystem where plants and fish live in symbiosis. It is absolutely eco-friendly, because it does not requires soil or chemical fertilizers.

Creators say that they want to grow smarter and more eco-friendly generation that will love nature and know how to behave with animals and plants.

Eco-garden has a plenty of benefits:

  • it is automated and very functional
  • has a nice design
  • fresh & organic produce
  • friendly with a nature

Today more and more people start to live in big city with busy lifestyle polluted environment. Therefore, people, who live in huge cities, can feel nature in their home. It is the best solution for all ages also, especially for children.

To conclude my words, I would say that our planet has enormous problem about over-population and air pollution. So, eco-garden can make your air fresh and atmosphere in your house greener.
