Remote education in 2021

Reading Time: 2 minutes

When in march 2020 Polish government announced a two weeks lockdown for the whole country people and especially students took it as a short spring break. Nevertheless, no one imagine that time that we will end up working 5-9 hours each day in front of computer screens for over 9 months. It was not only shook for employees who switched from traditional work office  to remote office but also for student who found e-learning as extremely insufficient way of acquiring knowledge. Math teacher who explains you a new topic on whiteboard by recording a lesson in 144p quality or connection issue of your English teacher are only a few students nightmares nowadays. However, 2021 will be a year of artificial intelligence (also in the education field) working arm by arm with teachers who wants to deliver the best lesson as it’s possible.

China leads the mass-scale e-learning solution which combine AI and human teachers. This technological country has 9 unicorns (include VIPKid, Zuoyebang, Yuanfudao)  which allow schools to enforce this hybrid style. Those companies try to help children making progress rather than provide them traditional lessons that leave some students behind and other board.

Imagine that 6-years-old Ling write a story full of complex character which IA visualizes and identifies. It is possible by using new image-recognition software provided by Hexiaoxiang Network Technology – a literacy platform. The program which based on smart machine learning and  database gives child a video with instruction and feedback.

We can find four key areas in education: teaching, learning, practising and testing. There are already companies which improve all of them by developing IA, VIPKid is one of them. They’ve created IA-embedded class which includes animated characters who assists the human teachers. The results of this combination was astonishing. Course-completion went from 80% to 90% and the rate of correct answer increased form 50% to 80%. All of those results generate data which can easily improve program and make it even better.

Thera is no doubts that technology is thriving and improving year by year. Today IA assistant book your hotel, tomorrow programs will tech you how to behave in new workplace. Outbreak of COVID-19 hit unexpectedly and we had to adjust to new, IT environment. Students are the most  aggrieved in this situation but with new education platforms there is still hope for better tomorrow, tomorrow with new and remarkable educational system.

When the Covid started I had so many problems with e-learning. Teachers weren’t prepered to do everything online, so for us stdents, it was also very hard to learn everything mostly by ourselves. I think thatthis idea that China provides can help with overall e-learning. It can take some time to put this ideas to all countries e-learning skills, but it’s not impossible. With some years, I think we can improve learning online and beig able to keep it when there is no Covid around, I mainly think about students that are sick and can’t attend classes at school.

The progress in quality of distant education is visible even in example of Kozmisky. But even when everything is going to become perfect and issues are going to be fixed, e-learning would not become as valuable as the usual model. A lack of socialization is the worst thing happening today, it’s sad to see people becoming more introverted ’cause of the lockdown.

Thanks, soo much for this article, I really enjoyed reading it!
Honestly, I think despite this horrible pandemic we are experiencing something right now on our planet that is a huge step into technology. Who thought that online learning will be introduced so quickly? 2 years ago people were speaking about this way of learning like something never being accepted or very far in the future. Now, it’s just 2020, and look around … We are living in the digital world. I must say online learning is not the same as the “normal” one. But personally – I love it. I don’t have to waste time in the car. I can be at home in my comfortable environment and of course – wanna meet? Call your friends, catch a coffee with them or …. There are plenty of ways to socialize!

There is no doubt that e-learning has significantly improved over the last year. For students at university level this situations is much easier to manage than for children who still need a teacher/parent to help thm with studying. For many families the situations cause by covid is still dramatic and I hope there will be more AI solutions, which facilitate process of learning, especially for kids who really need it.

E-learning is definetely improving, teachers and students are starting to cooperate. In my opininon after the pandemic ends we should not jump into normal education right away it should be restored gradually and also I would consider leaving E-learning for some cases.

Remote education is a real challenge for all of us this year. There are a lot of issues, but I guess as we can not do anything with this, we can deal with this, based on previous experience

I would love to use this tool which visualizes a written story myself! It seems very interesting in terms of stimulating creativity. I think it is very important to look for tools that will make learning a more entertaining experience (especially for children).
Regarding e-learning i think that we can see improvement each day- creating “rooms” in teams or pollys or a space where a few people can work on one document makes it much easier for students to bear with e-learning reality.

Personally i prefer e-learning and i don’t feel it’s disadvantages everyone is talking about, like lowered efficiency of learning. Moreover if traditional learning system would be fully transfered to digital one, in time I think it could have better potential.
