One of the biggest Polish e-commerce companies, Allegro tries to compete with international giants such as Aliexpress or Amazon. Both of those corporations are already entering the Polish market and creating real danger for smaller firms.
That’s why Allegro announced launching its own parcel lockers. Those automated boxes called One Box will be 90% made of recyclable wood and be powered with renewable energy. The company plans to install 3000 lockers by the end of 2022 all over the country. The first ones to use those boxes will be citizens of Warsaw. The strategic partner in this One Box project is UPS.

Allegro doesn’t stop there. They also informed that one of their most popular function, Smart subscription, will be cheaper (39zl instead of 49zl). This offers free shipping of the products partnered with the firm. This decision was made due to the upcoming Black Friday and Christmas shopping period.

Wow, never heard of it before. Very interesting topic. That’s great that all these boxes will be made of recyclable wood. I think it’s very important nowadays. Also good to know that Allegro will have it’s own parcel lockers.
It’s interesting decision to make parcel lockers, but as for me, it’s quite controversial wether it will convince people to by on Allegro. Still Aliexpress for me is more convenient because a lot of stuff which you can’t find on allegro is present on Ali, so parcel lockers do basically nothing for me as for a customer.
Nice quick explanation of Allegro’s expansion plans in response to external threats. Looking into current monthly visitor trends, Amazon averages hundreds of millions less than Allegro, I have not looked into Aliexpress but I am now curious. The parcel locker expansion is important to rely on Inpost less going into the future, it would always be more efficient to implement your own logistics service rather than outsource it, this is a reason why Amazon is so strong globally. As for Smart! I am curious how much this will effect their bottom line. Clearly not much if they can reduce it by nearly 20%
Very catchy brief article! Personally, I use Allegro daily and for me, it is a very convenient way to buy things – most of the time cheaper than in the shopping mall and has much more possibilities to offer. Many people claim that Amazon and Alliexpress are the so-called “MONOPOLY” for such services but as I see in Poland people use Allegro quite often and even the majority prefer it. It may not have that big assortment as those two giants have but surely has its pros. For example, by implementing its own parcel lockers it will gain even more power and competitive advantage. The delivery cost will be much less, the delivery time also, which plays a huge role in our choice.
I have ordered from Allegro maybe twice. Although, I think that it is great information, mainly because I know that a lot of people buy through this platform.
