Scientists from the University of California have developed a high-tech fabric that will allow clothes to communicate with each other. The development of technology has resulted in the creation of smart clothes that offer new functionality. Such solutions are currently used in sports, to measure the vital parameters of athletes and in medicine. Soon, however, there will be a completely new type of clothes that will be able to communicate with each other.
Researchers from the University of California in Irvine have developed a technologically advanced fabric, thanks to which clothes will be able to “talk” to each other. Scientists have made impressive progress in NFC communication by extending the range of wireless transmission technology from a few centimeters to over 120 cm. Thanks to this, you will be able to pay by high-five or waving your arm, among other things. Fabrics operate in a similar way to the currently used short-range communication technologies used, for example, in smartphones or payment cards. However, their scope was significantly expanded. This means that in order to pay for purchases, we no longer have to take out the phone, because it can rest in our pocket. The UCI solution does not need batteries. It is based on elements made of copper and aluminum foils, thanks to which the signals are transmitted by means of a magnetic field. For example, pants could monitor leg movement and feed data to a heart rate monitor T-shirt. The material can also be integrated with hospital gowns to work with sensors placed on the patient’s body. it would be the perfect solution for medicine.

I wonder if it will be possible to somehow “pause” this clothe’s abilities. I mean, sometimes I want to just give a high-five without my money being taken out of my bank account))
Yes you are definitely right. It should be some how controlled and I think it is, because it would made no sense otherwise.
I think it is worth attention and innovative idea, especially for athletes or people struggling with chronic diseases related to heart pressure. I wonder what other possibilities they can offer. My only concern is that the mechanism will not heat up, which will cause discomfort to the person wearing the clothes, and whether it will be possible to turn it off at any time so as not to accidentally make someone else’s payment by waving to a friend across the street. 😉
Everything is developing even clothes. I have seen a heated jacket, shoes, and rolls in one, and now this? Clothing that communicate with each other? Although, I think that is a great idea but in sport and medical area. Why? because I think that prevention is more important than treatment.
