Competition in delivery and e-commerce companies in Poland rise

Reading Time: 2 minutes

INPOST was a gigantic success for the Polish delivery industry as it has became more popular than other giants such as amazon, Allegro or even the public sector Poczta Polska in Poland. This has triggered a competitive rivalry between these firms on a wider scale. This was caused due to INpost coming up with the concept of parcel machines that enable consumers to pick up there packages in a very comfortable way which has really adapted for Polish consumer and even moving to countries like Spain or Germany.

Allegro is the leader of E-commerce in Poland where Amazon is more popular in the rest of Europe and Central Europe. Allegro in order to compete with Inpost they also have build these parcel machines which leads to few of them standing next to each other but being from separate firms. this has resulted in a misallocation of resources the amount of parcel machines in Poland exceeded the demand for them. This strategy was meant for Allegro to compete with INpost however it looks like people became more used to INPOST making them the leaders in Poland.

The real issue is for public sector companies such as Poczta Polska which didn’t keep up with the technological advancements that Inpost prepared . They didn’t realise the change in the delivery market switching from collecting packages in physical facilities to collecting it from a machine. Poczta Polska in order to compete right now, can rely on there physical stores, facilities and innovate them to attract more consumers. Poczta Polska has the advantage that they are set in rural areas and small towns in Poland also having many loyal customers. They are unable to compete with the parcel machines from inpost as it would look stupid to have three machines standing next to each other from 3 separate companies .

The outdated business model of Poczta Polska has resulted in them having a difficult situation as they cant copy Inpost with smart machines as it is already an over saturated market. what they can focus on is to develop their app making it more user friendly or even come up with a subscription for frequent users. Another idea is to focus on rural undeserved areas as Allegro and INpost already dominated the urban area. Lastly as it is public company they have to strengthen their relationship with the government in order to not get entirely dominated by their competitors.

Competition in Poland’s delivery market is getting intense. InPost became the top choice thanks to its easy-to-use parcel machines, while Allegro is trying to catch up by adding its own. But now there are too many machines in some places. Poczta Polska is falling behind because it didn’t adapt, but instead of copying InPost, it should focus on what it already has—many local branches and loyal customers, especially in smaller towns. Improving its services and using its strengths could help it stay in the game.

InPost revolutionized the Polish delivery market with its parcel machines, outpacing competitors like Allegro and Poczta Polska. Allegro’s attempt to compete led to an oversupply of machines, while Poczta Polska struggles due to outdated practices. To stay relevant, Poczta Polska could focus on rural areas, improve its app, or innovate services, leveraging its loyal customer base and public sector position
