Share the post "Were Tesla’s Robots Secretly controlled? The Jaw-Dropping Truth from the ”We, Robot” Event!"
On October 11, 2024, Tesla showcased its Optimus robots at the „We, Robot” event, presenting the future of humanoid robotics. The robots performed various tasks, including serving drinks and interacting with attendees. While the event sparked excitement, it also raised important questions about the true autonomy of these machines. Were they acting on their own, or was there more happening behind the scenes?
The History and Technology Behind Tesla’s Optimus
Optimus was first introduced by Elon Musk at Tesla AI Day in 2021. Initially a bold concept, Musk envisioned a humanoid robot that could take over dangerous and repetitive tasks, eventually becoming a companion in everyday life. Over time, Tesla integrated its expertise in AI and robotics, borrowing heavily from its Full Self-Driving technology and Dojo supercomputer for real-time processing. Optimus is designed with 40 electromechanical actuators for natural movement, while its lightweight design allows it to perform various tasks efficiently. With further developments, Optimus aims to reshape industries such as manufacturing and logistics, much like Musk’s ambitions with electric cars.
The Robots: Slick Moves, Smooth Style, and Serious Tech
At the We, Robot event, Tesla’s Optimus robots stole the show. With their smooth movements and undeniable style, these bots weren’t just tech—they were a glimpse into the future. Serving drinks, engaging in conversations, and posing for photos, their presence left the crowd buzzing. But were they really doing it all on their own?
Controlled or Not? The Debate Heats Up
As fans marveled at the sleek performance, questions began to swirl—were these robots really doing all this solo? I spoke with three Tesla reps at the Masters&Robots event in Warsaw, who claimed the robots were fully autonomous. Yet, reports suggest that behind the scenes, some remote human assistance was involved, especially during the interactions . Still, even skeptics couldn’t deny the hype.
Expert Opinion: The Vision is Bigger than Perfection
As Robert Scoble noted, “We’re witnessing the future unfold in real time. Human control is just a temporary phase.” Tesla is tapping into cutting-edge AI technologies to push Optimus toward full autonomy. Michał Z. Baruch, a 19-year-old tech visionary, added, “This is a classic case of iterative development—like the first iPhone. Each version improves upon the last, driven by advanced neural networks and machine learning algorithms.” Tesla’s long-term vision is more about reshaping human-machine interaction than just releasing another robot.
Other Robotics Companies and the Race to Full Autonomy
Tesla’s Optimus isn’t the only humanoid robot pushing the boundaries of AI and robotics. Boston Dynamics, with its Atlas, excels in dynamic mobility, capable of performing tasks like running and jumping autonomously. Agility Robotics’ Digit is designed for warehouse tasks with its efficient bipedal movement, and Figure’s Figure 01 is quickly emerging as a competitor in general-purpose robotics, using AI to learn tasks on the fly. However, what sets Tesla apart is its integration of AI and advanced production, positioning Optimus for large-scale impact .
What’s Next: Musk’s Master Plan for a Robo-Future
Elon Musk’s ambitions for Optimus stretch beyond the factory floor. Achieving full autonomy will require billions in R&D, but Tesla’s logistical infrastructure—powered by global gigafactories and AI-driven supply chains—is already in place. Musk’s goal is not just to mass-produce robots, but to create a fully integrated AI ecosystem where humanoid robots like Optimus work in tandem with AI-powered systems to revolutionize industries like manufacturing, logistics, and even healthcare.

Reading about Tesla’s robots being secretly controlled had me chuckling! The revelations from the We Robot event were both surprising and amusing.
To be honest the claim of robots being controlled are only half true. This is interesting article nonetheless.
