Neymar joins NFT community

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Neymar is by far the most famous person to own NFT. On Jan 20, he announced on Twitter his purchase by tweet as well as changing his profile picture. NFT he bought is the Bored Ape 6633. The price was 159.99 ETH which is $481.6k.

There is one more! In fact, he bought 2 NFTs. The second one is the Bored Ape 5269, bought for 189.69 ETH ($570k).

For now, NFTs are mostly art, and hugely speculative, but with the development of the metaverse, they might become more and more useful. We don’t know yet, how big the metaverse will be, but the future is highly promising for that space. More and more game development companies enter the market.

Twitter launched NFT verification, so users can no longer ‘screenshot’ images and claim them as their own. So the value will increase even more. Personally, I’m quite excited about the future of this market.

Very interesting NFT which releases in 2022

Metroverse is a new NFT project which is set to start this year, also probably in January. It’s unique as it’s a land trading game (like Monopoly) which can earn you money by staking.

There will be generated 10.000 NFT which look like city blocks. They will be created randomly and depending on which buildings they have the rarity will be calculated. Depending on the rarity score, city blocks will earn you their token $MET. There is how those city blocks will look like.

Project is hyped and they have a lot of followers on Twitter ( https://twitter.com/themetroverse/) also on discord, which makes them legitimate. As usual in the modern NFT projects, they have a clear roadmap of Metroverse. Personally, I’m very interested in point 6, which enables PVP between cities.

Mint price (starting price, but not guaranteed you can buy it) is 0.1ETH. In my opinion, it’s worth looking into, personally, I’ll try to buy one, but of course, it’s a risk and it’s not recommended without any research into the market.

How to become a front-end developer?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Who is a front-end developer?

The role of a front-end developer is to guarantee that website users may readily interact with the page. Nowadays a lot of what used to be done by “pure” back-end developers are being done by front-end developers. They get to work on many different aspects of the products: design, performance, code, colors, typography, UX, and other tools.

How to start step by step

https://miuc.org/study-computer-science/

1. Computer Science

First, you have to get a knowledge of the basics of Computer Science, don’t spend a lot of time on that, just try to understand how a computer works.

The best resource is the FREE CS course offered by Harvard called CS50. https://pll.harvard.edu/course/cs50-introduction-computer-science?delta=0

It’s well known and simply the best.

2. HTML & CSS

https://skywell.software/blog/how-to-make-a-website-with-javascript-html-and-css/

Learning the basic languages of the web is necessary to pursue a front-end career. HTML is easy and won’t take you a lot of time, just a couple of hours. On the other hand, CSS is easy to start hard to master. I’ve seen people recommending spending around 80-100 hours on CSS before moving forward. Just keep building the most common things on websites like navbar etc.

There are a lot of free resources on that, there are numerous youtube tutorials, but one of the best is the “Responsive Web Design” course by freecodecamp.com. Great platform, everything is free, and you can get a certificate after.

3. JavaScript

JavaScript is one the most popular programming language and when you want to become a front-end/web developer proficiency in this is a must! Its role (compared to providing content and value to a page as in HTML&CSS) is to make a page interactive. You need to learn the basics of the languages such as variables, arrays, objects, loops, functions, etc. Of course, if you have prior programming experience in other languages it will be much easier. When I started learning JS a couple of months ago I already had had prior experience in Python so it made my learning much more pleasant.

Here is MDN first steps in the JavaScript guide: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Learn/JavaScript/First_steps

Freecodecamp.com also has a JS course. https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn/javascript-algorithms-and-data-structures/

You’ve mastered JavaScript – What’s next?

There are a lot of frameworks and depending on which company you want to work for, what do you specifically want to do the choice may differ. The most popular are React, Angular, Vue.js.

Nissan: Next big competitor in the EV market

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Over the next five years, Nissan will invest $17.6 billion to develop their new EVs. Astonishing 15 EV models are set to arrive by 2030. Their plan is called “Ambition 2030” and it’s part of a goal they’ve set to be carbon-free by 2050. “We want to transform Nissan to become a sustainable company that is truly needed by customers and society,” said the Nissan chief executive, Makoto Uchida.

For now, Tesla is at the top

Tesla Model Y has a 32.9% market share and Tesla Model 3 22.6%.[1] A couple of next big competitors are Ford, General Motors, Hyundai, Honda, and now many EU-based companies like Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW dive deep into the EV market.

Nissan has presented four concept EV cars.

Surf-Out comes with quite a futuristic appearance and all-wheel-drive setup. Quite a small, single cab pickup.

Max-Out is a very sporty and convertible car. According to Nissan, it’s lightweight and with a low center of gravity.

Hang-Out seems to be something between a van and SUV.  Very cool features are rotating seats and a huge screen.

Chill-Out is the least futuristic car of the four presented, but still impressive. This crossover probably is going to appear first of those concepts.

Coinbase One Beta

Reading Time: 2 minutes

What is Coinbase?

coinbase.com

Coinbase is the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the US. They allow users to buy and sell crypto as well as send coins between wallets (it is both an exchange and a wallet). Their business model is having users pay small fees for making trades, but now they are introducing a brand new strategy.

Coinbase One

The new service they offer is Coinbase One. It’s basically a paid subscription that enables users to trade without fees (however, they will still have to pay spread fees). Also, it includes features like priority support and account protection feature (up to $1 million). The service is available for a small portion of users for the time being. The company hasn’t told yet, how much Coinbase One subscription will cost.

euronews.com

Will it increase their revenue?

Well, it depends on whether the feedback from users will be positive as it’s in an early stage. For sure, it can provide a much more stable source of revenue compared to users paying fees for each trade. “We are focused on the long-term where we will continue to diversify our offerings” said Alesia Haas CFO of Coinbase. Moreover, it’s a response to their biggest rival which is Robinhood, and their subscription service called Robinhood Gold.
