Nowadays, when almost everyone has access to the Internet, we are looking for new solutions to make our lives easier. Due to the fast information flow and our busy lifestyle, we have less and less time for basic life activities, including shopping groceries or preparing food. Fortunately, in this matter, we have many options and with just a few clicks we can easily solve the problem of an empty fridge or lack of food.

1.Grocery shopping delivery is more and more often practiced by people, for several important reasons: firstly, it does not require leaving the house, secondly: we can choose the exact time of delivery, and thirdly, often (but not always) the variety of products is greater than in a nearby supermarket.

Unfortunately, there are also disadvantages of such kind of shopping, e.g. a delivery fee is often charged, we still have to spend a lot of time choosing products and usually we have to spend a certain amount of money (we will not make small purchases)

2.Another thing that makes life easier in terms of our daily nutrition is, of course, ordering ready meals directly in a given restaurant or through applications – this method is often more convenient for the customer because we don’t have to wait for connection to the restaurant and can pay very quickly. The biggest advantage of this solution is the large selection and fast delivery.

Unfortunately, hardly anyone is able to afford to orderevery meal in a restaurant, rather people choose such a solution once in a while, when they do not have time to organize and prepare a meal.

3. For especially busy people, there is one more option, which has recently become very popular with people – the box diet. Catering companies offer delivery of meals for a full-day, with a choice of caloric value of the meal, type of diet and delivery time, as well as in an extended version the possibility of choosing meals for a given day. Although this option is not very cheap, it certainly pays off more than eating out every day or ordering food.

Many catering companies (eg Maczfit) offer their clients an application in which they can manage their diet, change their diet type at any time, or change the delivery address for a given day. This is a good option when we do not have time to cook or re not able to plan a diet and control calories consumption.

In just a few days, the Austrarian Open begins in Melbourne, the first of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments of the year. The covid-19 pandemic, that we are facing, certainly doesn’t facilitate the organization of this type of sports event-limits, tests borders restrictions, ensuring the safety of participants and employees, is a real challenge for the organizers. There are also dilemmas and controversies, like in case of Serbian tennis player, multiple winner Novak Djokovic, whose participation in the competition is under a great question mark, and new facts come to light.

We all see and experience the negative effects of coronavirus pandemic, however, it is worth noting that thanks to difficult experiences and situation, we can also learn creativity, perseverance and dealing with challenges, which definitely has a positive effect on human development. I think that it is also a good opportunity for technology that people more willingly and more often use to protect themselves and their loved ones. Such an example can be the advanced technology of Hawk Eye Live which tracks the path of the tennis ball in a real time. This system was used for the first time in the history of the Grand Slam in all competitions of last year’s Australian Open, completely replacing the line judges and it was also decided to use this technology in this year’s tournament.

Hawk Eye is s a well-known technology, that has been used since 2001 in various sports such as football, hockey, volleyball or tennis. This visual system is able to recreate the almost exact flight of the ball and where it falls, helping judges who make mistakes much more often than a machine. Depending on the sport, Hawk Eye cameras are placed at different angles and heights,they use graphical images and time data and process them to determine the position of the ball for each frame. What’s more, the technology has an appropriate data regarding the rules of the game, which allows to verify whether they have been violated.

Surprisingly, so far (before the Covid-19 pandemic) the hawk-eye technology was used only in disputes, when one of the players didn’t agree with the referee’s decision. Everything indicates that replacing line judges by the system is much more effective and fairer for players, and Hawk-Eye Live has a chance to become the future of tennis. In my opinion, without pandemic, we would have to wait a few more years for the implementation of this innovation. It is important to stay positive and be aware that what is happening in the world can ignite us to look for new technological solutions, as well as help us overcome the fear of the unknown.

The games industry is undoubtedly characterized by rapid and successive development and has a huge influence on our society. Video games are not only entertainment for children, but also for adults, among whom the popularity of various genres of games is growing. It is a huge business worth about $ 180 billion with Sony, Tencent and Apple in the lead, which generate billions of dollars each year.

Among others things, thanks to the popularity and diversity of  games, many fashion houses decide to collaborate with companies from this industry. A combination of luxury fashion brands and games, despite the controversy related to e.g. prices of the products, enjoys great admiration among customers.

Moshino&Nintendo

Jeremy Scott, Moschino’s creative director, designed products with themes such as Barbie, McDonalds or cartoons characters. In 2015, the Italian fashion house also collaborated with Nintendo, which resulted in the creation of collection called ‘Super Moschino’ , which celebrated the 30^th anniversary of Super Mario Bros-the video game, for many of us associated with our childhood ?

Collections included clothes and accessories, such as T-shirts, knit sweaters, and leather accessories and handbags, all in many vivid colors with Mario Cart Bros characters.

When it comes to cost, for example, the price of a T-shirt from this collection was around $ 350, which is the average price for this type of limited product at Moschino.

Balenciaga&PlayStation

If you’re a fan of PlayStation, but also want to experience some luxury, check out the collection created in cooperation n with Sony and Balenciaga-luxury fashion house founded by Spanish designer. These simple and inconspicuous products, released in June 2021, may surprise you with their price.

The price of the t-shirt, which is available in two color variants, is $ 675, while for the cotton hoodie we have to pay $875, which already significantly exceeds the price of the Play Station 5 itself.

Gucci&Xbox

On the occasion Xbox’s 20 anniversary, Microsoft cooperated with the Italian fashion house Gucci, creating a special edition of Xbox Series X , which was released on November 17, 2021. It doesn’t differ much from the standard Xbox, only with a few additions and an unique appearance. However, the difference that is not difficult to miss is special price of this product – such version of Xbox cost  around $ 10,000. Moreover, only 100 units were produced, which sold out rapidly after they were launched.

Despite of the fact that Xbox Gucci sounds ridiculous to many of us, considering its price,  its buyers surely feel special being one of the 100 people in the world who owns this limited product

Currently, we can notice a rapidly progressive deterioration of the state of the environment. Pollution, climate changes or harmful human activity contribute to an increase in number of endangered species. There are millions species of animals and plants that are threatened with extinction, and it is estimated that  thousands of them may completely disappear within a few decades. They play a very essential role for the environment-they are part of a food chain that keep ecosystems healthy. As the number of endangered species increases, there is a high risk of ecosystem imbalance that can have critical consequences for our planet.

In spite of the fact that technology in many cases contributes to the extinction of species , it also can be used to prevent this tragedy and protect the environment. With the development of technology, we have more and more opportunities to create tools that can be part of saving the animal kingdom.

Wildlife tracking satellites

Satellites that are able to track wild animals over a vast area are an example of the positive use of technology for environment. They can not only track the location of animals, but also observe their life and analyze their behaviors. Thanks to Artificial Intelligence it’s possible to recognize and count visible animals with amazing accuracy.

This solution is used to track elephants in Africa, whose population is constantly declining.

Drones to plant trees

Another technological solution that protect the natural environment and organisms is using drones to plant trees. Currently, our planet is experiencing rapidly increasing deforestation, which can lead to dire consequences such as destruction of  animals habitats shelters or changes in climatic conditions, and thus a threat to many animals and plants. Thanks to the drones that disperse seeds from the air, planting new trees is quick and much more effective than  human-made planting.

‘Jellyfish’ robot to protect coral reefs

Coral reefs, which are structures made up of small organisms called polyps, are the basis of many ecosystems and have a significant impact on the biodiversity of marine organisms. Although they occupy less than 0.5% of the ocean floor, they enable the life of about 25% of the fish. Unfortunately, the condition of coral reefs on Earth is in serious trouble due to the harmful activity of humans – the reefs begin to lose their ability to regenerate, which causes the threat and loss of many species.

 In order to protect coral reefs and closely observe endangered species, scientists have created a ‘jellyfish’ robot inspired by shape and movements of these delicate creatures. Thanks to its soft surface and amazing performance ,the robot is able to safely explore and work (e.g. apply repair substances) near coral reefs without risk of damaging them.

The technology is developing very fast and many other solutions may be implemented in the future. Will it help to save our planet or maybe it will contribute to its destruction? There is no simple answer to this question.

Nowadays, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is used in many different  fields, such as finance, automobile, education, gaming and many more. In spite of the fact that they are all very essential and useful, AI is estimated to have the greatest impact on healthcare in the future. What’s more, there are many favorable factors that contributed to the development of AI in this field. One of them is the access to large amount of data, which in this case is crucial. All medical appointments, medical history, health information or prescriptions are registered in our accounts, which gives a lot of possibilities for implementing AI. Another factor is the use of complex algorithms, especially development of deep learning and neural network.

Deep learning is a subset of machine learning, so we can say that it’s ‘more advanced machine learning’, which tends to work like human brain. By using the available data and a multi-layer structure called artificial neural network, deep learning make it possible to work and draw conclusions similar to the human brain by constant data analysis.

How exactly is Artificial Intelligence used in healthcare?

Medical data management

AI turned out to be very helpful for many medical organizations if It comes to supporting data management. The AI-based robots are used to collect, analyze and store data, which provide fast flow and constant access to the information. Some of them are able to predict the user’s intention and, moreover, they help doctors make decisions and, in some cases, take actions.

Diagnostics

Thanks to the wide possibilities of data analysis and processing, deep learning is implemented in the area of ​​diagnostics. Neural network is able to detect cancer cells or analyze MRI scans in detail. A special neural network called VoxelMurth (convolutional neural network) is used to analyze the MRI images-it is a very difficult process which requires large database and often takes many hours.

AI in early detection

If we look around, we can see many people wearing modern devices, including e-watches. For many, they are just a gadgets that make life easier, but it’s worth noting that they often have advanced health monitoring features. AI-based health trackers, like Fitbit, Garmin or Apple Watch, are able to collect and analyze data such as sleep cycle, activity level, heart rate or blood pressure, which can e.g. predict heart attack.

Of course, we have to take into account the fact that at this stage AI is not able to work independently and completely replace doctors and medical staff. However, looking at the rapid development in this field and the incredible potential of AI, we can assume that it will significantly change the medical industry.
