A NEW IDEA OF AN ARTIFICIAL WOMB IS PRESENTED TO THE WORLD BY COMPANY ECTOLIFE.

Reading Time: 2 minutes

In the begging I want to emphasize right away that for now, this is just an idea and a concept.Hashem Al-Ghaili is a science communicator, producer and director currently living in Berlin. He presented his extraordinary project and vision to the world, which – as he says – is based on 50 years of research by outstanding scientists from around the world. This concept will enable infertile couples to have a baby. The second benefit is that it can result in more than 30.000 additional births in a single year. The shocking aspect of this artificial womb is that parents will be able to select the height, IQ level, eye color, hair color, and even avoid many genetic illnesses for their unborn child.

There will be numerous sensors inside the artificial womb that will be in charge of navigating and monitoring the baby’s temperature, breathing rate, and heart rate. The voices from outside are heard by the baby while it is still within the real human womb, which is crucial for the growing baby so something similar Ectolife wants to deliver in the artificial womb.

The artificial womb at EctoLife, the first of its kind in the world, would be powered by renewable energy. Ectolife wants to solve the problem of women dying due to delivery problems and the pain they experience during birth. If the company succeeds, it might benefit many nations with rapidly decreasing population.

One serious barrier prevents Ectolife from expanding on its concept. Babies under the age of 14 weeks are prohibited from participating in research by law. If the law changes, the first kids from artificial wombs may be seen in 10 to 20 years.

I can’t wait to see how this concept turns out. For the present time, I believe that the human body and the childbirth process cannot be mapped.

ECG Diagnosis is Improved by Artificial Intelligence

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A Polish startup has come up with the innovative idea of improving ECG diagnosis by using artificial intelligence. The most common method of analyzing our heartbeat is a device called Holter. Thanks to advanced algorithms of artificial intelligence, scientists analyzed over 25 million heartbeats registered during the holter test. The doctor spends about 30 minutes analyzing our heartbeat after each test, thanks to a Polish startup it reduces that time by 80%. When we consider how time-consuming and difficult traditional ECG test result analysis can be, this accomplishment becomes even more important. Doctors are working too hard, and patients are waiting in long lines for the results of their tests and diagnoses.

Cardiomatics is a cloud-based AI ECG analysis technology. They focus on producing software that is incredibly simple to use. With a few clicks on this platform, it is possible to quickly identify a variety of ECG elements thanks to artificial intelligence and machine learning. The report is then downloaded, from which the doctor can determine the patient’s current condition, diagnosis, and potential treatment plan.

The main benefit of this software is that it can be used in places where ECG specialists are not employed; in fact, it is so simple to use that other medical professionals can use it and analyze data. The company is planning to eventually give patients access to the software.

Due to the fact that there is a shortage of qualified medical professionals in many nations, the company’s solution is the ideal way to begin dealing with this problem. A lot of people are able to receive help since doctors’ time spent examining and analyzing heartbeats is limited. The basic assumption of how artificial intelligence functions in medicine is to improve the flow of data and knowledge and to assist doctors, not to replace them.

Worldwide, hospitals and medical personnel utilize the company’s software. I believe that medical breakthroughs that improve patient care make us the happiest since they enable more people to receive treatment, allowing them to live longer or allowing for earlier illness. diagnosis

ARTIFICIAL PANCREAS

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The first person in the world to print and transplant an artificial pancreas was a Pole. I think that Professor Michał Wszoła deserves to me mentioned here because he will save thousands of lives. If he manages to get 9 milion euros, first transplants will start in 2024. Millions of patients who suffer from diabetes, cancer, and pancreatic insufficiency will be saved by this project. About 20,000 Poles require pancreas transplants due to health issues, and for the majority of them, there are no donors available. When compared to the number of people who require such a procedure, around 40 people underwent pancreatic transplants in a single year, which is a relatively small number. All of Europe did 300, the United States 800 transplants in one year. The numbers are really small and it’s teryfying how only few people get helped. There are 6 million people in the globe who might benefit from having an artificial pancreas.

What is a artificial pancreas? When asked, professor Michał replied „this is non natural organ made up of living cells and unique biomaterials that imitate the extracellular elements of the organ”. After completing the entire process of creating materials for the creation of the pancreas, they move on to building the fake pancreas layer by layer using a bioprinter. The pancreas hardens when exposed to a special light during printing. The professor and his team only focus on the functionality of the pancreas; artists are responsible for completing details on the organ, such as veins. The old pancreas is typically left in the patient’s body because it is one of the few organs that does not need to be transplanted into the same location as the original organ, artificial pancreas is placed in a totally different location.

The professor and his team had funding until 2019, after that private investors invested in them. Currently, they are looking for international investors who can give them 9 million euros so they may develop their work even farther than they have before. The professor claims that the conversations they are having with potencial inwestors are headed in a very positive way.

In conclusion, I must say that I am truly grateful that our world is filled with such gifted individuals who, because of their level of knowledge, diligence, and talent, can save the lives of so many people. Individuals who invest hours and hours and hours in work for the benefit of society should be considered heroes.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MINING INDUSTRY

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We associate the mining industry with huge machines, hard work and especially lack of safety for employees. Mining work is considered one of the most dangerous jobs in the world but AI is starting to change that. International mining companies quickly invested in the new technologies, believing that the investment would pay off quickly.

The use of artificial intelligence for exportation and extraction of raw materials has brought a few crucial changes in this industry. Companies that use current technologies can extract more, faster, safer, and more environmentally friendly. As a result, profits will increase significantly and the environment will be protected.

The location where a mine will be built is considered to be the determining factor in all subsequent exploitation-related issues. Artificial intelligence must therefore be used in this industry. The IBM (International Business Machines Corporation) Watson robot, which was developed in this area, has become famous. The main benefit of Watson is that it can interact with experts. In addition to any other information pertaining to the exploration of deposits, Watson automatically records the maps and geological cross-sections that are given to it. When employed for the exploration of oil and natural gas resources, it significantly improved the earlier outcomes of successful drillings by over 30%.

Autonomous transportation also makes use of artificial intelligence. The trucks follow a single defined route without encountering any barriers, making this travel fairly straightforward. This system is used by the Australian-British firm and includes three ports, 1,500 km of railroad, and 16 mines. Millions of pieces of data are processed every minute by the system and relayed to operators outside the mines. The company increased its efficiency and reduced its fuel costs by using this approach. Addicionaly, they are using remote-controlled trucks also that operate nonstop for seven days.

As I mentioned earlier, the work of a miner is not safe, which is why artificial intelligence systems have been used to improve the quality of people’s work in mines. Many of today’s solutions would not be possible without new technologies. There are two techniques to improve safety in mines: wearables and thoroughtec. Wearables are the unique clothing that miners wear with hidden sensors that continuously monitor the worker’s health. Thoroughtec is a method that helps identify inappropriate human behavior that could cause an accident and makes it possible to detect threats earlier.

The application of AI in the mining sector is constantly expanding. It will undoubtedly bring about significant changes in the upcoming years, and mining-related businesses will definitely greatly benefit from it.

How artificial intelligence is used in financial market?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Artificial intelligence-based investment computer programs have been operational for a number of years. Programs of this nature focus on portfolio management, trading, and risk management. There are also Rabo-advisors on the market, which are computer programs that offer several suggestions for individual investors’ financial activity.

An effective approach of gathering information from a variety of sources, including news articles, internet posts, financial contracts, and social media, which can include incredibly useful information, can be used to construct risk management. The ability of computer algorithms to analyze satellite photographs in order to forecast grocery sales or crop yields in the future is a good example. We are able to better manage risk in our transactions because of the information provided, and it also makes speculation a little easier.

So far, artificial intelligence is not able to replace humans, but it can facilitate many processes. An example of this is the whole process of a transaction, which is divided into 3 stages: pre-trade, transaction, and post-trade. Pre-trade analysis involves using data to examine the characteristics of financial assets in order to predict future performance and transaction risks. Given that asset managers may want to take into account findings from pre-trade analysis together with risk assessments and customer preferences, this stage is typically overseen by humans. The information provided at this point automatically caused the transaction to be opened. Additionally, post-trade analysis needs human oversight too.

There is no doubt that the implementation of Al provides higher efficiency in investing industries. For example, artificial intelligence can collect, analyze, and identify data that can be hard to spot for humans. Algorithms can also improve the decision-making process, but so far they are not able to make decisions by themselves. I think that the amazing attitude towards artificial intelligence is the objective „thinking.”

It is stated that emotions are the enemy of humans when investing in the stock market, and you need to be able to control them or cope with them. We tend to overlook numerous facts and frequently tell ourselves lies because emotions trigger cognitive bias . But is artificial intelligence a solution? I have a strong belief that nothing will ever be able to completely replace human intuition when it comes to business or investment.
